The Islamorada and Dry Tortugas fishing report for April 2018 has been good so far this month.We are going to the Dry Tortugas on April 4th. We started the month with good blackfin tuna fishing and got a few snappers along the way.
We did manage to fit in a field trip for the 7th graders at Treasure Village.
The Dry Tortugas fishing report started out very good. The first day was very active. The second day was OK, but we still did well. Jim Lewis and Julie did a great job on the fish and had a great experience.
We caught a lot of fish and had non stop action.
Finished the first day in the Dry Tortugas. Jim Lewis and Julie had a great time, We caught a lot of fish. The action seemed to be non-stop. We caught Permits,Snappers ,Groupers some AmberJacks. We released tons of fish. A shame we can’t take more home.
Second day in the Dry Tortugas, we had ok fishing with a large variety. We caught flag yellowtails, Mutton snappers and some permits. We released a lot of nice sized groupers and some red snappers
4-12. Back home in Islamorada, we had a morning trip with some guys from Ohio. Great action today. We anchored in 85 feet of water and caught some large yellowtail snapper up to 5 lbs. They have a few bagfuls to take home.
Had a wedding party today. A really large group. We kept them in action all day long. We caught yellowtail snapper in all sizes including some large ones.
We went offshore today with a group from New Jersey. They had a busy day. We caught some small blackfin tuna, a nice wahoo and some big bull dolphin
We fished the reef the last couple of days and had good fishing. We caught some nice sized yellowtail snappers and released some groupers. May 1st starts grouper season. Come on down.
WE ran offshore this morning because it was a beautiful day with calm seas. The dolphin were there and we came home with a load of schoolie dolphin.
