Things just keep getting better! Ocean City, MD has really had one of our best starts to a season in a long time! Over the last week we have done several different trips; a day or two inshore provided us with some Bluefin action and plenty of big Albacores. The Shark fishing was pretty good as we did get the targeted species and let go about five nice Sharks, hammerheads and Duskys. Offshore the Tunas have been pretty steady. Some days they are a little tougher to hang on to but yet they keep coming. We have been averaging over a dozen fish per trip which is great fishing. We have also had our encounters with some Blue Marlin but they keep winning. There are also some White Marlins mixed as of late, so things should continue to heat up. There has been plenty of bait most days; squid mostly and some butterfish. We have been staying true to our trolling spread and it seems the Ballyhoos are starting to produce just a little better, which is a good sign. The water temperatures have been anywhere from 78 to 73 degrees and the fish have not been influenced by this in any way. They are still in the same spot!!
The shallow water fish for Captain Jason has been nothing short of spectacular!! Captain Jason has been catching nice keeper flounder most of the week. Today alone he mentioned about getting three 20″ fish on his first three drifts. Wow, that’s Pretty Work! The Stripers are still biting and in keeper size too and the kids this week had an absolute blast! This fishing will do nothing but improve. As a matter of fact, come this July he feels the inshore waters should become very productive with the trout, other fish and crabs!!
